The U.K. government invited DeepMind co-founder and CEO Demis Hassabis to attend a meeting of the scientific advisory group for emergencies (Sage) on March 18, around the time officials were considering a lockdown. Hassabis was invited to the Sage meeting by Patrick Vallance, who is also the government’s chief scientific advisor. His attendance, reported by The Guardian, has got people asking questions.
