COVID-19 is the story of 2020. It has tested national capacities, social cohesion and international relations. But the pandemic has not replaced geopolitics, merely refracted it. Geopolitics has shaped the impact of the virus, and continues to do so. And many major developments have little or nothing to do with the pandemic. The past year offers three geopolitical lessons.
