Coronavirus has led many countries to only acting with self-interest, but has helped China-Japan Relations through a new type of diplomacy: Mask Diplomacy. They have aided each other with gifts, medical supplies, and money, supporting the others country with people-to-people support, as well as official government relations. This reciprocal generosity has come as a surprise to most of the world as “the Sino-Japanese relationship has been among the most entrenched rifts in the world”.
