After much expectation, a Swiss government-sponsored foundation that aims to bring the worlds of science and diplomacy closer together is entering a new phase towards realising concrete projects. The Geneva Science and Diplomacy Anticipator (GESDA), launched in 2019, unveiled a list of almost 100 high-level diplomats and scientists who are meeting to consider how to implement recommendations identified in reports. The idea is for them to examine key scientific advances likely to emerge over the next 5-25 years, and propose how GESDA’s initial scientific findings can be put to good use.
