Covid-19 reveals a need for Australian exports beyond China, security plans for epidemics, and supply-chain smarts. Australia has become significantly more dependent on China across exports, imports, and incoming tourists than the average of Asia’s ten other largest economies. Australia’s dependence on China has risen eight percentage points to 38.2% over the past four years. The average Asian economy dependence has only risen 2.1 percentage points to 16.3%.
