How Joe Biden Hopes to Shift U.S. Policy in the Middle East

The Middle East is the only major region of the world not mentioned by name in the “Restore and Reimagine Partnerships” section of Biden’s foreign policy platform. According to remarks by Biden advisors in recent weeks, the new administration’s top priorities in the Middle East will be the following four: Contain Iran’s nuclear program and its programs that destabilize the region; secure Israel and advance Arab-Israeli peace; end the wars in Yemen and Libya; and advance human rights.
